Kathangariri is the only washing station operated by Muramuki FCS, situated at the northern end of the Embu region of Kenya. Kathangariri is a self-sufficient station that is vertically integrated in Kenya. They rent a large portion of their land to a cooperative bank whose rent basically pays for the operation of the washing station throughout the year. This gives a higher percentage of the profits back to the farmers and producers of the coffees since there is very little overhead. This lot is washed with water from a nearby stream and dried on raised beds after being sorted multiple times for density and bean size. This is one of our favorite Kenyan coffees of this season.
