From the fragrance of the ground coffee to the aroma right before sipping, the Ethiopia Gora Kone evokes hints of tangy tangerine, sweet peach, and floral orange blossoms. As the coffee cools, notes of Assam tea and bergamot develop the complexity of the cup. The juicy body and clean finish will satiate any palate.


STORY
This coffee offering comes to us from the Gora Kone Washing Station in the Sidamo region of Ethiopia. The station processes coffee cherries for over 700 coffee smallholders, many of which are family farms that handpick the cherries between November and January and deliver their harvest to the station for processing. These farms vary in size but on average cover roughly three hectares of land (almost eight football fields) and utilize wanza and acacia trees to provide shade for their coffee trees.

At the washing station, the coffee cherries are fermented for 42-46 hours in river water from the Gerenbicho River, which is replaced by fresh water after 12 hours of fermentation. After washing, the beans are dried for nearly two weeks and then rest for 30 days.
