Crisp and clean best describes our newest Kenya offering. At first sip, pops of white grape and lychee fill your senses. As the coffee cools, tart notes of plum and apricot develop. The underlying sweet flavor of nectar lingers lightly at the finish.
This offering was produced by the Thunguri wet mill in the Kirinyaga region of Kenya. The Thunguri mill is one of the eight mills that make up the Kibirigwi Farmers Cooperative Society. Nearly 7000 smallholder farmers are members of the co-op and manage almost two million coffee trees in total. The co-op has an executive committee of nine elected members who oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic development. Quality and efficiency are two of the most critical aspects of coffee production at the Thunguri wet mill. In the same day, coffee cherries are picked, pulped, sorted, and processed. The mill uses clean water from the Kangocho stream to wet process their coffees before fermentation and additional washing. Enjoy!
